Joe Chandler and Alfredo “Freddie” Alejandro are partners operating Independent Pipe Services. The two of them worked together 13 years for a pipe manufacturing company before they had the opportunity to buy an existing pipe business in June of 2013. Their business was growing and operating smoothly before the oil crash in 2015. Most of their competitors closed their doors, but Independent Pipe was able to stay in business. Our servicing department was able to work out a payment arrangement that fit their needs. They also were able to start making pipes for use in the construction industry, so they did not have to be completely reliant on the oil market. The Independent Pipe story is why we do what we do here at North Texas CDC. We share the Small Business Administration’s mission in truly helping small business owners grow and stay in business through difficult times.
